Wow, hello there to my non-existent readers! Did you miss me?
As much as I would love to use the excuse that I haven't baked in awhile, that simply isn't true.
In fact, this summer I kind of went a little crazy.
My latest craze is for cake pops and cake truffles. Scrumptious little suckers that are impossible to pass up. I even made a facebook page to promote my petit business.

Anyhow, I hope that I actually start to blog now that my schedule calms down a bit. I mean, people with full time jobs and full time lives find time, and I wallow in my "mehhh it's senior year and college apps" nonsense hole.
As you may or may not have seen, I am completely clueless when it comes to blogger. I mean, come on, look at this awful layout.
I'll work on it.
Maybe.
But for now, the latest and greatest news will be featured on my facebook, so check it out.

First fondant cake! Happy birthday Andrew!
Yay first post!
Today is Andrew's 20th birthday and we got to celebrate with him by stuffing our faces with oh-so delicious Japanese food... Mhhmmmm
I surprised Drew with a super fun birthday cake made by yours truly.
I used to work with buttercream all the time but it was so messy and time consuming. In retrospect, I probably should have started this blog back then, so I could document all of my artsy cakes and whatnot.
Anyway, my first attempt at fondant was AWESOME!!!!
The recipe could not have been any easier-- melted mini marshmallows mixed with powdered sugar... Eh voila! I am officially a cake boss.
Rolling out the fondant was tricky and sticky. It was tough in my teeny kitchen, so I improvised and rolled it out on a cookie sheet, success!
Dying the fondant blue was also kind of difficult and it required a lot of effort. I was about to give up and just use marbled blue-ish white fondant. But in the end, I prevailed! Hooray!
